What the error means
Google fetched the landing page you submitted and got nothing usable back — a 404, a soft 404, or a page with no product on it. The item is disapproved.
Why Google rejects it
This is usually a URL that changed rather than a page that vanished. A renamed handle, a deleted variant, a collection URL submitted instead of a product URL, or a redirect chain that ends somewhere generic all produce it. Merchants report it comes back after a manual recrawl fixes it, which is the signature of a URL that is still being generated wrong at the source.
How to fix it
- Open the exact URL Google lists, in a private window, with no session. Not your admin preview — the public URL.
- Check whether it redirects. A product URL that redirects to a collection or the homepage reads as missing, not as moved.
- If the handle changed, fix the source of the URL rather than adding a redirect, or the same item will fail again on the next sync.
- Look for products that are unpublished or out of every sales channel — those return a page Google cannot use.
Shipwork requests your product URLs from outside your network and reports the status, the redirect chain, and the final destination of each one. Free, no account, no signup — paste your store address.
